Very pleased with this purchase
Great blender! I can't believe how fast it perfectly and smoothly blended ice for my margarita in less than 5 sec. I got this to replace my older blender that took forever to blend ice and also had a warped lid from the dishwasher. I agree with other reviewers that the plastic parts seem a little cheap, esp the collar at the base of the glass container. I don't think this will be a problem and i plan to hand wash only; the lid seems to be designed better though but don't want to risk damaging it in the dishwasher. Highly recommend this blender!

It really does chop ice
Replaced my belnder for this one because we wanted a blender that actually chops ice for slushes. This one works great.

Wonderful Low Cost Blender
We stayed at a beach house that had this blender. Let me start by saying I forgot to bring my viatmix and I was pretty bummed that I would not be able to make smoothies each morning. Well when I saw this little blender sitting on the counter I thought well it will not stand up to my usualy smoothies. But let me tell you this blender did a GREAT job on my smoothies. It even crushed ice better than my vitamix. I could not belive that a $50 blender would get my green smoothies to be smoothe. There were not any chunks left. I was very impressed with blender and would recommend it to anyone that does not want to shell our big bucks for a high powered blender but wants one that can handle frozen fruit and crushing ice. My only complaint is the continaer is small only holding 5 cups where my vitamix holds 8 cups. I will be glad to be back home where I can make smoothies for my husband and me at one time.

I love it! I love it! I love it!
I had an earlier model of this same product. It was sold at my estate sale after my wife died. I used it all the time for every facet of my cooking and entertainting experiences. Buy it and you'll love it too. Also, I bought one for my girlfriend.

My days ruined!
I was all excited about recieving this blender for a birthday present & when after buying all these ingredients to make hummus, I started mixing it in the blender & in 10 minutes I smelled the smell of a burnt out motor & sure enough it died then & there.I don't know if I'll even bother getting another blender cause I had another slightly cheaper one recently made by Proctor Silex that I got 2 full uses out of it before that one died so that assures me that today's quality is crap compared to old school. The Kitchen my partents had lasted for decades!Don't throw away reciept & packing box if you buy this blender!!!

You can find a better deal elsewhere
Not recommend. Very disappointed.

Pro- Good quality by Cuisinart. Durabilaty is good. liked glass jar and stainless steel blade.

Con- the bottom of a jar leaked at the first time I used it, yet the exchange process was fast but inconvinent beacuse I had to go to the post office with three kids to ship the old one back. Also, it leaks side of a jar when you pour any blended drink with ice. The pitcher is very heavy.

Oster Fusion Blender
I have used the Oster Fusion Blender and am very satisfied. It arrived at my house within 3 days and in excellent shape. I have used it to make applesauce and it is so smooth.Oster BRLY07 600-Watt Fusion Blender with Food Processor Attachment, Black

Worth the Counter Space
I hadn't replaced my old blender and food processor after they broke down, mostly because I don't have a lot of counter space. I used to buy a lot of kitchen appliances, but after moving several times and going from a lot of counter space to about 8 linear feet, I've become very particular about having too many gadgets. I learned a long time ago, if I have to put it under the counter, I'm probably never going to use it. So why spend the money?

But earlier this year I had a series of dental procedures and decided I needed a blender because macaroni and cheese and hot dogs only taste good for so long. I picked up The Smoothies Bible and decided I did need a blender and would try making smoothies to get some decent nutrition and give my poor teeth a break. I'd never had a smoothie before either. Boy, was I missing out!

I like to use cold fruit, skim milk, and pieces of frozen banana for my smoothies. I get a nice, thick, healthy meal replacement, that's homemade and quick. It takes less time to blend the smoothies than it does to assemble the ingredients. My mouth is all healed now, but I make a smoothie just about every day.

This blender is nice and powerful, but not too heavy and has a pretty small footprint. If you're getting married or starting a family, put this on your wedding registry. You'll be glad to have it. Highly recommend.

Didn't even power on!
I bought this for my wife because she loves to make smoothies. We got it out put all the ingredients in and NOTHING! It would even turn on!!

breville blends!
With standard economical blenders, food oftentimes gets stuck and a stirring device would be needed to get the mixture to liquify. With the Breville, in making smoothies of any kind, i have no problems getting the liquefaction process started. However, to make sure all piece have been chopped finely, it's best to start with the "smoothie" setting, then push "liquify". The nice part is the unit will stop itself, therefore giving me consistent results. The power button assures me that the blade won't accidentally start spinning when i plug it in. It's the best blender i have ever owned. Its heavy and sturdy construction feels like this unit will last a long time and has powerful motor.

Short Life - Gasket Leak Issues
I have never written a review until now, but consumers beware!! We replaced our old blender of 4 years usage with the Breville BBL50XL mainly to make green smoothies daily and within FIVE months there are severe gasket leakage issues. Food particles are lodged between the base housing and glass that cannot be removed. The cap to the bowl does not sure firmly, it was not designed to screw or turn to lock in place, therefore any upward pressure will cause the cap to pop off. Poorly designed for daily usage, the Vita-Mix is worth the extra cost. Read the other reviews citing gasket problems.

Looks good, but poorly engineered.
I have a Breville Ikon and it's the worst blender I've ever owned. It's frustrating and aggravating. Whenever you have any frozen ingredients, the bottom of the blender twists loose and the liquid ingredients flow out all over the blender and the counter. Even if you try to retighten the assembly after a short pulse, you often don't catch it soon enough and it makes a big mess. They replaced it once, saying they'd never heard of it happening. The same thing happened with the replacement. Avoid this one if you chop ice or use frozen strawberries or that kind of thing.

Great for crushing ice
All I ever use a blender for is making slushies with crushed ice

and concentrated fruit juices. This blender is the best that

I have ever had for that purpose. It is very fast and even

though I am pulsing the switch, I am through in less than

a minute. Another 30 seconds of rinsing the jar and its done.

Powerful. Easy to clean. Great looks. Rather tall!
I purchased this blender when our old $99 cuisinart (Which is $59 now) blew a coupling. I could probably have searched the net and purchased a new coupling, but used the problem as an excuse to step up to a more powerful, professional blender.

I researched for about a week, reading review after review after review, and kept coming back to the Kitchenaid over the Breville models.

There was a slight temptation to go to even higher-end brands like blendtec, vitamix, etc, but at what increase in performance? We don't use a blender often enough for tough tasks to warrant the price, so I went with the Kitchenaid for half the price. (Or less in some cases.)

I went with Onyx Black (KPCB348POB so that it would blend-in nicely with our black counter tops. I knew it was a monolith from the reveiws. It IS a tall blender, and we have to slide it out from under the dish cabinets above to use it, but it is not a deal breaker. The blender has a nice, professional look to it. The touches of stainless are classy and help it match our stainless appliances. Not that looks are everything, but the pictures don't do the blender justice.

I first tried ice in the blender, and was impressed with the results. Our old blender would crush ice to some degree, but not nearly as nicely as the Kitchenaid. I'm thanking the well-designed blade and power for this.

Depending on the length of pulses I could make perfect shaved ice or nice, chunky-crushed. It passed the ice test with flying colors.

As an aside....Please note that the laws of physics can't be broken, and no blender will completely crush a jar full of refrigerator-freezer, oblong-shaped ice. (At least none that I'm aware of.) The long shape of typical fridge-made ice does not allow for much movement within the jar, and good movement is necessary to blend anything well. That's why some complain about air pockets. The mixture is simply not 'liquid' enough to move and this cannot be blamed on the blender. A half-full jar of this type of long ice blends wonderfully.

Cubes of ice are another story. The more round the shape, the more you can pile on to crush. You could fill the jar with the small, square ice and it would work fine. However, the closer to a rectangle the shape is, the harder it is for the blender to mix it properly for even crushing.....and now back to the review.

For the second test I decided to let my wife use it the morning after we got it for our son's morning smoothie. (Which, by the way, he has decided today that he no longer wants.) After a quick lesson on the speed settings she was off and running and found that the blender did a quicker, better job than our old one. It took half the time and the consistency was very nice. (She always uses the same amount of the ingredients, so I feel that it was a fair comparison.)

I should note that while we were waiting for our new blender we borrowed my wife's parent's Waring Mega Pro, which was very nice and simple to use with just a pulse/off/on switch. It, too, is powerful, and worked well, but the blade design made it less efficient.

Since we receieved the blender a few weeks ago we've blended a variety of things, and each time I use it I'm finding it a joy to use. It has worked very well for everything we've thrown at (in) it.

I've yet to make super-fine sugar, but that's next on my list to try for that perfect caipirinha. (Yes, I actually still have some good cachaça left from the last trip to Brazil!)

Clean-up of this blender is very easy. The base is easy to clean, with few crevices for 'stuff' to get trapped in. Wiping it down takes seconds. The design is such that the base is raised where the jar sits instead of a concave shape like our old blender. This way I'm not wiping down inside something to clean it, I'm wiping the sides of the raised base. Much easier, and you'll know what I mean when you try it if you buy this blender.

The jar is also easy to clean simply by adding a drop of dish detergent to a half-full jar of water and running it on medium for a few seconds. I then rinse out the jar and run it again for a few seconds with clear water. If it's done daily and right after making a drink, smoothie, etc, it is not much of a chore.

I have not run this blender through all the paces yet, but so far it has performed well.

In comparison to our old blender and the Waring Pro, this blender is not too loud. I was expecting a lawn-mower based on some reviews and was pleasantly surprised that the sound is not that bad, especially on low. The high speed setting isn't quiet by any means, but again, our older blender and the Waring seemed to be louder on high.

If you didn't need the three speeds of this machine, the Proline Bar blender looks like an excellent brother to this blender with a simple pulse/off/on switch like the Waring. Pulse for slow and on for high. Simple yet effective. Look there for a simple to use pro blender!

In the end, this blender is a recommended buy, especially at the closeout price of $139! Kitchenaid is either designing a new high-end blender or getting out of the high-end blender business. Their 5 speed consumer blender seems to be selling like hotcakes....

Should any issues arise I will update this review to voice my complaints.........

Smoothie expert weighs in!
Over the past forty years, I've had several good household blenders (Osterizer, Waring, KitchenAid). These days I need a countertop blender for smoothies and occasional large batches of salad dressings; I use an immersion blender for soups. I've made a lot of smoothies over the years, particularly since my youngest child needed more than the usual amount of orthodonture and a couple of jaw surgeries. She is an athlete and I was always having to figure out how to get 4000 calories a day into her through a straw. This is an excellent blender and well worth the price (which is still several hundred dollars shy of a true restaurant blender). It is very easy to clean and comparatively quiet. It has three speeds and can reduce raw kale, with the addition of some liquid, to a smooth puree. I've had it for several months and can recommend it without reservation.
